CASPA Member Briefing: 10 Year Capital Plan for Health and Social Care

27th July 2026

The Government has published its 10 Year Capital Plan for Health and Social Care, setting out how capital investment will support the ambitions of the 10 Year Health Plan.

For CASPA members, there are no major new social care technology announcements. However, the plan reinforces the direction of travel towards digitally enabled, interoperable health and care services.

The plan confirms that, over the Spending Review period, Government will invest over £4.4 billion of capital in technology and digital programmes, alongside more than £6 billion of revenue funding. This is not new funding but sets out how commitments made in the 2025 Spending Review will be deployed.
Key themes include investment in digital infrastructure, interoperability, AI, the Single Patient Record and technologies that support the shift from hospital to community care and from treatment to prevention.

While adult social care technology receives relatively little specific attention, the overall direction aligns closely with CASPA’s work on interoperability, the Social Care Interoperability Platform (SCIP), remote monitoring and national standards. The absence of explicit references to Digital Social Care Records or SCIP also reinforces the importance of ensuring the social care technology sector continues to have a strong voice as national digital programmes develop.

CASPA will continue to engage with DHSC and NHS England to ensure the needs of social care technology suppliers are represented as these programmes progress.
